Contemplative Worship

The Contemplative Worship Service meets every Sunday from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the chapel. We invite one and all to attend.
The service is lay led on a rotating basis by those who volunteer to lead. Candles are lit on the altar, music CD's brought by the leader are played to help bring us into this sacred space to meditate, to get quiet, to leave the world behind. Each leader chooses a theme and selects readings that address that theme.
We read aloud the readings and spend time reflecting on them. We then share our thoughts, wisdom, and struggles with the theme. When all who care to have shared, we move on to light a candle for some intention we hold.
Next comes communion, the cup of grape juice or wine and bite of bread being passed from one person to the next until all who wish to have taken part.
We close with the leader giving us a blessing to send us off into the day.
If you care to stay, you might want to attend one of The Learning Community's adult education classes from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 p.m., followed by our more formal Sunday Morning worship hour in the sanctuary beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Professional childcare is available in the Young Children's Center along with Children and Youth education from 9:30 a.m. until the conclusion of the worship hour. Check the calendar for exact times and meeting places of these events.
